How to Remove a DrawerTool Chest Locking Tabs
Seattle Tool Drawers are very easy to remove for the purpose of regular maintenance. To remove a drawer from a chest: 

  1. Make sure that there are no tools or other items in the drawer.
  2. Pull the drawer out until the locking mechanism restricts any further movement.
  3. Push in the locking tabs (A) located on both sides of the drawer.
  4. With the locking tabs pushed in, carefully pull the entire drawer out.

 

How to Repair Lid-Actuated Locking Mechanism
Most Seattle Tool Chests are equipped with a locking mechanism actuated by the lid. When the lid is closed, tabs in the lock bar engage the lock pockets on the drawers. If a lid is shut and the drawers are slammed in, the drawers will not lock and it may even cause damage to lock bar tabs oLock Bar Tabsr the lock pockets. Should this happen, you can repair this yourself by: 

  1. Pull out every drawer in the chest.
  2. Examine the lock pockets (B) located at the back of each drawer.
  3. If there are any deformations or dents of the lock pockets, you may use pliers Lock Pocketto straghten them out. 
  4. Examine the lock bar tabs (A) located on the back wall of your chest.
  5. If thereare any deformations or dents of the lock bar tabs, they may be straightened with a screwdriver.
How to Re-Install a Drawer
It is easy to re-install a drawer after you have taken it out. To do so:
  1. Pull out the rails of the drawer from inside the chest.
  2. Line up both slides to the rails.
  3. While pushing in the locking tabs, carefully push the drawer back in.

How to Remove a DrawerRetaining Clip Lever
Drawers in Seattle Tool Cabinets are secured by a retaining clip that restricts the drawer from leaving the rails. The retaining clip is easy to unlock and you can easily remove a drawer by:

  1. Make sure that there are no tools or other items in the drawer.
  2. Release the retaining clips by pushing the lever (A) up if the lever is located on the right side of the drawer and down if the lever is located on the left side of the drawer.
  3. With the levers still pushed in their unlocking positions, carefully pull the drawer out.

How to Re-Install a Drawer
Re-installing a drawer back into a Seattle Tool Cabinet is easy. To do so:

  1. Pull out the rails of the drawer from inside the cabinet.
  2. Line of the slides of the drawer to the rails.
  3. Careflly push the drawer back inside the cabinet.
  4. If the drawer gets stuck, push the levers of the retaining clips into their unlocking positions and slide the drawer in.

Lubrication

It is important for the smooth operation of the drawers to lubricate the slides and the rails periodically with a light grease or petroleum jelly. This should be done twice a year or more depending on usage.
