Warranty FAQ

How do I submit a warranty claim?

You can submit a warranty claim using our online Warranty Claim Form or you can email us directly at contact@seattletool.ca!

Be sure to include your name, email, a description of the product and the issues you are experiencing, and any photo or video that can help our team to identify the issue.

How will Seattle Tool resolve warranty issues?

Once your claim is received, our team will review the claim to see if it is eligible for warranty in accordance with our warranty policy.

If the claim is approved, Seattle Tool will either repair the product, replace the product, replace the defective part, provide a repair kit or repair parts, or issue a refund if the defect cannot be remedied.

What is "Normal Wear and Tear"?

Tools and toolboxes can slowly degrade over time through normal usage, especially in professional work environments. This can include but is not limited to:

  • Plier teeth and cutting edges dulling over many uses;
  • Punches and chisels dulling over many uses;
  • Ball-bearing drawer slides becoming less smooth;
  • Air struts losing pressure as seals degrade over time; and
  • Torque wrenches going out of calibration over many uses.

Wear and tear as a result of normal usage is not covered under warranty.

It can often be difficult to discern what damage is normal and what is abnormal. If you have any questions or you think a product is wearing out too quickly, please reach out to our team at contact@seattletool.ca and we'd be happy to help!

Is rust covered under warranty?

No, rust is not covered under our warranty policy. However, if a product arrives with rust in its original packaging, it is covered by the warranty. Manufacturing defects in protective coatings such as plating, paint and powder coating are also covered.

Our products are designed to be highly rust-resistant through chrome-nickel plating, black-oxide coating, powder coating and tool steel selection. However, all steel is subject to rust and damage from weather, solvents and other chemicals over time.

To prevent your tools from rusting:

  • Keep your tools clean and dry;
  • Regularly apply a thin layer of light tool oil; and
  • Keep tools stored in dry locations with low-moisture and low-humidity.
Do I need to pay for shipping?

For approved warranty claims, all replacement products, parts and repair kits are shipped at no cost to the customer.

We do our best to process claims using the customer's descriptions, photos and videos of the issue. In the rare case our team cannot process a claim without the physical defective product in hand, the customer will be required to deliver or ship the item to our Surrey location at their own expense.

Can I get warranty service through Lordco or Home Depot?

Warranty service can be accessed through your local Lordco Auto Parts store. Drop off your defective product at Lordco and they will send it to us for processing. Once the claim is approved, we will send the replacement product, replacement part or repair kit back through Lordco.

All warranty claims from both Lordco and Home Depot can be submitted using our online Warranty Claim Form.
